Our story

A coffee legacy across three generations

Long before Sibu Trading PLC was established in 2014, coffee was already part of a longer family journey.

Identity & heritage

The story behind Sibu

The name Sibu represents the company’s connection to its roots in the Guji coffee-growing community. Coffee is not treated only as an agricultural commodity, but as part of the identity and cultural life of the communities from which the company originates.

When a customer receives coffee from Sibu, they receive more than green beans. They receive a piece of Guji.

Heritage & identity

Inspired by Buna Qalaa

The Sibu identity draws inspiration from Buna Qalaa, an Oromo coffee tradition connected with hospitality, gathering, blessing, respect and continuity. For Sibu, it represents where the journey begins: Guji, its people and the generations who carried coffee knowledge forward.
